Being human means being vulnerable. That is unavoidable. But many of us can’t imagine a vulnerability that feels healthy and is life-giving.
On this audio we consider what righteous vulnerability might look like, by asking the question of whether Christ was vulnerable in His humanity? And whether that might become a role model for us to live at peace with vulnerability in our own humanity.
Track #1: Introducing vulnerability: Pause and reflect
Track #2: Christ’s vulnerability in situations that were full of goodness, in embracing being human
- Examples such:
- as being worshipped at his birth
- when learning and growing creates vulnerability
- being vulnerable to His Father
- If Christ was not ashamed of His vulnerability, what about us?
Track #3: When the damage in those around Him impacted Christ, how did he respond?
- Who were the people whose damage impacted Christ?
- Christ challenged, but always with openness
- Christ chose a wise response
- Their damage didn’t impact Him, so His response wasn’t self-centred, it was for them
Track #4: What is God’s intention for human vulnerability?
- Considering 2 Corinthians 4:7 and a CS Lewis quotation
- Who are we vulnerable to in a righteous way?
- …God
- …others
- …ourselves
- We can choose to live this way
Track #5: Ways to respond when we find ourselves vulnerable to damage in the lives of those around us
- Examples of a healthy response
Track #6: The vulnerability of our history
- We carry the trauma, and the consequences.
- We need to choose to let it go….
Track #7: Making the choice to welcome righteous vulnerability
- Lets embrace the God-given vulnerability of our humanity
