Shame has been around since Adam and Eve took the fruit. They ran and hid from God in shame because of their nakedness. Before this sin there was no shame in the world. As a result shame now lives in all of us, in our fallen damaged natures (Rom 7:23). We are all now beset with vulnerability and weakness (Heb 5:2). As a result feelings like shame can become a deep curse to us, and very hard to uproot. This audio unpacks the biblical perspective on shame and includes three cameos of stories in scripture that illustrate God’s perspective on shame. (These cameos can also be used as short meditations.)
