Healthy Selfishness?

We welcome your suggestions and examples for future audios. So please email them through or include them on our forum (for members of our online community), or in the comments below. THANK YOU for taking the time to do this.

Is there such a thing as healthy selfishness? It is an intriguing question. In a recent audio, ‘Being Kind to Ourselves’ we found that the boundary between being kind to ourselves and being selfish is a slippery one.

Subtle or blatant, selfishness injures us and others. It creeps into our lives in a variety of ways and often as a result of a need for self-protection. But it is also an accusation that is easily thrown around, causing us to live in fear of something that hasn’t been clearly defined.

In this audio we consider when and how we have been impacted by the selfishness of others and by the need to avoid being selfish. We expose the ‘wobbly’ foundation it creates in our relationship with ourselves and how we then contribute to adding more selfishness, in spite of our best intentions. And, if selfishness could ever be healthy – what would that look like?
