Disapproval past and present: Dealing with it healthily

We welcome your suggestions and examples for future audios. So please email them through or include them on our forum (for members of our online community), or in the comments below. THANK YOU for taking the time to do this.

Disapproval sounds like it should be a relatively mild social interaction, yet the hurt it causes can be substantial. We often need to pay careful attention to finding healing from experiences of disapproval in our history and to know how to respond when it becomes part of our day-to-day life. Some disapproval from others we may believe is warranted – on reflection, we may regret the way that we behaved. Even so, it is not helpful to continue to live under the weight of it.

The added complication is that most of us have also lived in disapproval of others. We so easily make judgments and they are often negative. So unusually we can be simultaneously both victim and perpetrator, which creates confusion when disentangling the damage.

In this audio, we will help you map your own experiences of disapproval and consider how to press into significant healing from the damage it has created. And we ask how to walk healthily and humbly through those times when others continue to disapprove.
